Your bridal bouquet is the most photographed flowers of the day — and it's completely doable yourself. Using faux and preserved blooms, you can build it weeks ahead, with no wilting and no stress. Here's the step-by-step. If you're planning your whole flower list, start with the complete DIY wedding flowers guide, and size your order using how much you actually need.

What you'll need
- Flowers: a focal bloom (e.g. preserved roses), 1–2 secondary blooms, and greenery/filler from faux flowers.
- Tools: floral tape, stem wire, wire snips, a hot glue gun and ribbon — all in floral tools & accessories.
Step-by-step
- Choose your focal flowers. Pick 5–7 of your best blooms for the centre.
- Prep the stems. Trim to a similar length; wire and tape any heavy heads so they hold position.
- Build a spiral. Hold the focal flowers, then add stems one at a time at a slight angle, rotating the bunch as you go to form a natural dome.
- Add greenery. Tuck filler and foliage around the edge for shape and softness.
- Bind the stems. Wrap firmly with floral tape at the binding point.
- Wrap the handle. Cover the tape with ribbon, securing the ends with a pin or dab of glue.

Tips for a pro finish
- Work over a mirror to check the shape from the front.
- Keep the dome slightly rounded, not flat.
- Vary heights subtly so it looks natural, not rigid.
- Faux and preserved petals reshape by hand — fluff and adjust at the end.
Keeping your bouquet
One of the best parts: your bouquet doesn't die. Preserved and faux flowers keep their look for years — display it at home as a keepsake. Curious how preservation works? See the science of preservation.
